So I’ve been banned by Blogrush for not meeting their quality guidelines. They sent me an email asking that I don’t take it personally, and consider resubmitting after November 21st. I believe that it has to do with them being repressive prudes that believe in censorship.
First off, Blogrush, your widget was f**king up my page load times, so you can guess where I think you can shove with your resubmission guidelines. But seriously, the only clause of the quality guidelines that I could conceivably be in violation of is:
– The blog’s content (or advertising) should not contain any of the following types of content: hate, anti-racial, terrorism, drug-related, hacking, phishing, fraud, pornographic, nudity, warez, gambling, copyright infringement, obscene or disgusting material of any kind, or anything considered illegal.
Yeah, “obscene or disgusting material of any kind,” that’s a real quantifiable criteria. Talk about subjective, whimsical bulls**t. My guess is that one of their moderators didn’t like my style, so now they’re censoring me like the crypto-fascist boot-licking pigs that run any number of third-world police states.
I wasn’t aware that Blogrush had a mandate to police the blogsphere. Talk about biting the hand that feeds them: the entire blog-movement-thingy is based on the idea of freedom of speech. Blogging is liberating because there’s not censorship, FCC, or editorial mandate.
In any case, most companies wait until their Google-big before they take on trying to police the internet, so in that sense, I don’t really blame Blogrush jumping the gun: they have a future that’s as shiny (and by “shiny” I mean profitable) as BlogShares.
Hey CT,
You are in very good company.
Andrew
I experienced the same kind of treatment when I submitted one of my blogs to be part of the network! They rejected me on the basis of a series of images logging the process of one of my paintings, which depicts breasts!
Now, they have not syndicated my post “BlogRush doesn’t like boobs” on my main blog, and haven’t syndicated any posts since that post.
BlogRush is dead. The traffic was pathetic at any rate!
